Why Do International Homeowners Choose to Work With Me?
Renovating in Italy is only partly an architectural challenge. Many of the decisions that shape a successful project happen through conversations—with contractors, surveyors, municipalities, suppliers and designers.
I studied architecture in Italy and I understand the culture, professional relationships and unwritten habits that influence how projects are developed here.
I then built my professional career in Finland, working in an environment where responsibilities, budgets and potential problems are discussed openly from the beginning and throughout the process.
Today I naturally bridge these two ways of working.
International homeowners often express the same thing: they don't mind that projects are different in Italy—they simply want to understand what is happening and why.
My role is to make important conversations happen early, openly and in both directions—before misunderstandings become delays, compromises or additional costs.
Bridging Two Cultures
The Way I Work
“I do not believe in imposing a design style. I believe in revealing the potential that is already there.”
Independent by Design
I am paid exclusively by my clients.
I DO NOT receive commissions, referral fees or commercial incentives from contractors, suppliers or manufacturers.
This allows me to recommend the professionals I genuinely believe are best suited to each project, and to challenge decisions openly whenever workmanship, costs or important decisions need to be challenged.
My only loyalty is to the owner.
Every property has its own character, limitations and hidden potential.
My role is to understand how you want to live and develop a project around the building, the landscape and your priorities.
Often the greatest value comes not from adding complexity, but from questioning assumptions and discovering possibilities that were not initially obvious
Good preparation creates the conditions for better decisions throughout the entire project.
Why Preparation Matters
It's not about trying to predict every decision before construction begins-It's about creating a clear vision, realistic priorities and a shared understanding, so that better decisions can continue to be made as the project evolves.
Before You Make an Offer
01
"Is this the right property?"
Typical questions
• Is this the right property?
• What renovation budget should I expect?
• What could this house become?
• Where should I stay while searching?
Independent technical assessment before you commit.
Property visits, feasibility discussions and realistic "buyer offer vs budget" guidance.
Experience the region while searching from my restored family home.
02
Designing Your Future Home
"How can we make the most of this property?"
Developing a coherent architectural concept that reflects your lifestyle, priorities and long-term vision before technical planning begins.
Transforming the concept into a coordinated architectural project, preparing planning documentation and integrating the work of all required consultants.
Construction-Ready Documentation
Refining layouts, materials and technical details to produce a project that is ready not only for planning approval, but also for construction.
Budget Strategy Meetings
Together we review costs, priorities and design alternatives, ensuring every important decision is made before construction starts—not after.
Typical questions
• How should we redesign it?
• Who should lead the project?
• Is my architect considering everything?
• How do we avoid expensive changes later?
03
"Who protects my interests during construction?"
After Planning Approval
Typical questions
-
Is construction progressing as planned?
-
Who coordinates everyone?
-
Who follows up with the project team?
-
How do I stay informed from abroad?
-
Are costs still under control?
-
How do we solve unexpected issues?
Working with the project team to keep the renovation moving efficiently.
Representing your interests throughout construction and key decisions.
Keeping communication clear with contractors and consultants.
Reviewing costs, variations and financial decisions as the project progresses.
Photo Reports & Technical Updates
Keeping remote owners informed throughout construction.
One Relationship. One Continuous Process.
If you'd like one architect guiding your project from concept to completion, the complete architectural package follows the same philosophy you've just explored—careful preparation, coordinated design and continuous support throughout the renovation.
Restoring my family's home unexpectedly led me to something I had never planned.
Guests who came to experience Piedmont gradually began asking about local properties, renovation possibilities and the realities of restoring traditional homes.
Sven & Mirjam
During their stay we visited several homes together and spent many evenings discussing the renovation of Casa del Palio—what had been changed, how long it had taken and the thinking behind each decision.
Those conversations gave them the confidence to move forward.
Eventually, they also led to a renovation project we developed together.
Andrea & Claudia
They also arrived as Airbnb guests, looking for the right property. Sharing the story behind the renovation and discussing the realities of restoring traditional homes helped them understand what their own project could become. Today I'm leading the architectural transformation of the home they chose.
"We first met as Airbnb host and guests.
Today I'm the architect behind both of their renovation projects."
Sometimes the Journey Starts Here, in Vigliano D'Asti
More than one long-term client relationship began while exploring Piedmont together.
